How much does it cost to manufacture clothing in India?

"How much does a production in India cost?" It's like asking how much a car costs. A car that runs, or a Mercedes? In textiles it's the same. There are so many factors that a ready-made answer would be wrong.

What drives the price

• The fabric. Often the biggest part of the cost. Standard cotton or certified organic, light jersey or heavy denim: the price can double.
• The style. A plain t-shirt is nothing like a lined shirt or a worked dress. The more sewing operations, the higher it goes.
• The finishing. Hand embroidery, printing, washes, woven labels, packaging. Every addition has a price.
• The quantity. The larger the run, the lower the per-piece cost. Development spreads over more pieces.
